மீ டூ காலம்! என்னடி எப்படி இருக்க? (9)

கதைக்கு சம்மந்தம் இல்லாத முன்னுரை:

கொரானா வைரஸ் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான உயிர்களை சாப்பிட்டு வருகிறது. ஆனால் இந்தியாவில் மட்டும அத்தனை தூரம் பாதிப்பில்லை! அமெரிக்காவில் இதுவரை 6 பேர் மரணம். இந்தியாவில் ஒருவர்கூட இறந்ததாக சொல்லப்படவில்லை! அமெரிக்கர்கள் பலர் இந்தியாவின் "இந்நிலையை" நம்பவில்லை. மறைக்கிறார்கள் அல்லது இந்த வைரஸ் தாக்குதலை அனலைஸ் பண்ணும் டெஸ்ட் கிட் இந்தியாவில் இல்லை என்கிறார்கள். இன்னொரு காரணம் இந்தியாவில் உள்ள "ஹாட் வெதர்" என்கிறார்கள். இந்த வைரஸ் குளிர் பிரதேசங்களில்தான் அதிகநாள் உயிருடன் வாழ்கிறது. வெப்பத்தில் சீக்கிரம் இறந்துவிடுகிறது. அது ஒரு காரணமாக இருக்கலாம் என்கிறார்கள். அது உண்மையாகவும் இருக்கலாம்.

"Where have you been?"

"I texted you that I was sick! Did not get it?"

"Yeah I got it  but you were off for few days. That's unusual"

"It is just a cold but people are going to think I got Corona virus of something when I cough. I dont like people giving me a fucking look as if I am making them sick or something. So, I took off. I got lots of unused sick days anyway"

"Enjoyed staying home?"

"Not really. I hate staying home, Caro,  but I had to"

"You hate staying home?"

"Yes! I enjoy coming to work everyday and having a cup of coffee sitting near by your ass during the break"

"Ha ha ha. Missed me"

"Didn't you  miss me?"

"Of course I did"

"What did you miss, actually?'

"You are someone who is always coming up with some interesting issues and make me think!"

"Yeah, instead of worrying about "looks" and "make up" it is better talking about some real sensible issues. Right?"

"Ha ha Right!"

"I am a very caring person, Caro! I get attached to people easily."

"I thought Indian guru's say not to get attached with anybody!"

"Fuck 'em!"

"ha ha ha"

"They are idiots. What the fuck that supposed to mean? Dont get attached with anybody. How can you live without getting attached to anybody? Dont cry. Dont fuck. If you dont do anything, why the fuck we have to live this life anyway?"

"Oh my God! You dont leave anybody!"

"It is all natural, Caro! Some people are born empathetic and compassionate and some are not. We are born like that. We cant change it. If we change it then we are not ourselves!"

"Are you saying, "Dont get attached with anybody" means nonsense?"

"I thought about it a lot. It does not make any sense, honestly."

"They just say, keep your emotions under control."

"Who said that?"

"Idk, may be Budda?"

"Budda could not survive in the world where you and me are living. He ran away. Not everyone can run away and start preaching!"

"Why not?"

"Who will feed you? How can you pay the bills? How can we survive? In real world, survival is the most important thing. We do right and wrong things for survival!"

"It is true!"

"Philosophies are good but it may not work in the practical world. Our environment makes who we are. It is not just me and you can decide. If everybody around us are bad people, you just have to become bad for survival. We are civilized because we are around civilized people!"

"So, I cant decide whom I want to be?"

"The environment or atmosphere decides that. Not just you! Suppose you grew up in a ghetto, you may not be the same Caro! You will be different. If you go to jail and staying in prison for few years, then you would be a completely different person than what you are today!"

'So, everything will go out of control?"

"Most part. Your genes and chromosomes are not going to change completely. But there will be a lot of epigenetic consequences which will dominate deciding who you will become!"

"How much this lecture costs me?" she smiled.

"Don't tempt me!"

"For what?"

"Never mind! Get me another cup of coffee. That should do!"

"Okay, you earned it, Mister!"
